"Future" For an art installment on Mesa College, I propose a mural of
a young child. This illustration is quirky and would easily capture the
attention of everyone who passed it by. It would bring beauty and character to
the campus and help students to keep in mind that children are our future. This
art piece would appeal to many types of people because we were all children in
our lives, know children, or will have children. Similar to John Baldessari's
installment "Read/Write/Think/Dream," this piece of art would absorb
into Mesa's culture and architectural structure. Students would think about
their future every time they enter or exit through the doors. It would
encourage them to always do their best, without them being directly aware of
it. Like the giant murals by Agents of Change it would be colorful and painted
with spray paint, made to look like graffiti-style art. Colorful paint would
draw people to look at it and talk about it.

The digital artwork in this piece is phenomenal. The perfect balance between transparency and opacity in the superimposed image makes it look remarkably realistic. You did a really great job on this. Kiddos to you!

Very nice Abigail. This picture works well for this application. Would it be possible to adjust for the fire alarm somehow, maybe shrink a lift a little so it's in the red of the boy's collar? A very nice job of positioning the wrap onto the second plane though, except for that darn alarm I really like how the picture was positioned low and wrapped.

I actually like the fire alarm. Perfection is in the eye of the beholder and those eyes display an openness to reality. I do believe, no matter what out age, we are all children after all. Great work!

Your mural is one of the best so far, great job! You did fantastic with the opacity and color, as well as having the image wrap around the wall.

Like others, I liked the way you wrapped the image on the building. The image of an actual child would have looked better, as I find this image a bit too cartoonish. Good job!

Great job on fitting the piece of artwork neatly on the building with the opacity and vanishing point. Your statement goes great with the mural and is a great eye opener.

ReplyDeleteI think that this is a great idea. Especially if it is done by a graffiti artist who could work the alarm into the art. My only concern would be that the building number shouldn't be obscured, but it's a really minor point. -- John Zeller
ReplyDeleteGreat placement and color choice!

I like the graphic. Image colors blend well with the background. Placement is well done. Great scaling of image size.

ReplyDeletewhile looking over your proposal I began to think,a contemporary and modern version of "THE THINKER",good job.

I really love this. The graphic is wonderful and I agree with Tim, it gives me this feeling of "The Thinker" with the expression in her eyes. Any minor flaws have been pointed out and could be easily "fixed", but I enjoy this just as it is. :) Great work!- Va Merritt
ReplyDeleteThe art fits very well in the canvas you choose, and the coloring fits very well as well.

I like this mural because I like when you are talking about the children and how they are important in the future.
