After
I have been influenced by the work of Mr. Wodiczko and would like to use some buildings at Mesa College to encourage school administrators and students with greater recycling efforts. I have, for example, rented my books for the last 3-4 semesters. This has saved me some out of pockets costs, but as likely saved some trees as well.
In my example, the large unknown human figure is meant to represent that we can all be green and do our part to save the environment. The tree growing out of the book will hopefully remind students and instructors that the pages of their books come from a living organism that is part of our eco system. It will, hopefully, also encourage them to recycle their book and not just throw them away as trash. The large recycling emblem and go green message needs to further explanation.
Mr. Wodiczko’s motives were more political in nature than mine. I just want to make others aware of much needed recycling activities. Displaying this art, in an open forum, may just encourage one or two people to do so.
Krzysztof Wodiczko is an artist renowned for his large-scale video projections on buildings. Art projected onto the building may last a couple of days and is there to invoke discussion or debate as the images are often contradictory. This artistic technique has come to be known as Interrogative Design, which combines art and some form of technology.
His projections on buildings included many public figures, but he also often uses human body parts (i.e., hands, ears, etc.) and instruments of war such as firearms, tanks, or missiles. His Abraham Lincoln, War Veteran Projection is currently on display in New York City and can be viewed by clicking on link below.

Good job Violet. My aunt's name also as well, so extra points on that from me! :>) I really like the picture of the girl and also of the book with the tree, those two pics also complement each other well. Maybe a tad less brightness on the "go green" signage would be my one suggestion. That pic is stealing the thunder of the nice pic of the girl, maybe reduce the size off it a little?

I agree with your idea of recycling and making it better known at Mesa by creating a large mural for students to see. I think the students could really benefit from doing their best to save the environment and creating a mural on campus as a reminder is a great idea. I think it would look a little better if the pictures were more collaged, but that's just my opinion. Otherwise, good job.

I love your use of the color green, it really drives the message home to recycle and be more responsible with the world around us. My favorite is the picture of the girl on the left, did you create that image yourself? -Abigail Argonza

This is really cool for the go green day. I think you should fix the picture with the white background. It could stand out without the white background. Overall this is very good.-Aaron Haley
