My proposal is
to make a mural of a video game land in Hollywood at a science building at Mesa
College. This painting will represent the talent and creativity of the
students. It would also give life to the school and show our true passion for
multimedia animation. I see that others find enjoyment with video games, and
maybe a tribute to the 80's. This is also the time that Super Mario Bros was
created, which is why I included them in the mural. I wanted to create the
Super Mario Bros characters and locations in this art piece exactly like the
original style created by the game's designers, Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi
Tezuka. They designed the Super Mario Bros graphics this way because high-end
2-D and 3-D computer graphics were not available at the time. Older video games
used 2-D graphics with 8-bit or 16-bit systems, making the graphics look like a
bunch of squares, or pixels. Lastly, I added a roller coaster and Hollywood
sign to make the piece look like a giant theme park.

I love this! The roller coaster is there but you have to look for it. The first thing I see is the Hollywood sign and then my interest gets going. I am sure there is lot to see in this piece.

You are a very creative thinker. I can tell you put some time and effort into collaging that photograph. I think it would look a little better if you reduce the opacity so it realisticly blends into the wall better. Other than that, nice idea with the gaming tribute!

ReplyDeleteAn interesting and fun mix of items in the picture. The little green guy draws you into the midst of the picture.

I liked what you did in your collage. Playing Super Mario Bros is one of my favorite pastimes. Although it is theme park inspired (bright, attractive colors), the image would be more eye catching if a greater portion of the wall had been used and slightly lower opacity. Overall, good job!

Wow! It's a great collage of pop culture images that most of the students would recognize. My only suggestion would be to enlarge the image to fill the whole wall.--John Zeller
ReplyDeleteI like the image, it needs a little tweaking to fit to the building but you pretty much got it!

Very cool and creative concept. A little blurred in the left side of the image. Could have used some opacity to make it more realistic looking.
