OUR ENVIRONMENT-TIM PIPES

The project I am proposing is a mural dedicated to Mesa’s main entrance. The photos were taken on
the beach just below our Mesa. I chose this area of our campus because this is the Architectural
Department and the area I frequent the most. The inspiration of this work is inspired by the CLEAN
OCEAN PROJECT. The vision of “The Project” is an ocean free of pollution, and I feel this mural
would help remind us of
our environment and raise our awareness of our local habitat. The word Earth is added to show
Mesa’s involvement in San Diego’s future both academically and environmentally.  The Architecture
Department here at Mesa College would benefit from a mural like the one shown here. The location is
one of the main entrances to our campus and would be highly visible to our students and community.
I like how John Baldessari beatified the entrance to UCSD’s library.

  1. The elongated image of this beach scene blends well into this low slung wall. I must complement you on your creativity as it will certainly draw lots of attention. Great job!

  2. Before I looked more closely I thought you had turned the area into a boat floating on the water. Beautiful work, I grew up going to the beach all the time, so seeing it on campus would make me very happy. -Abigail Argonza

  4. This mural looks great! I like your use of various photos aligned next to each other. The colors are a great choice and they look just right as far as the opacity. Good job!

  5. Very vivid colors, I like the ocean colors you chose. The text would look more realistic on the actual building though. Great Job!

  6. I think the colors in the image you used could have been muted a bit more. Maybe doing a Hue/Saturation layer mask could have bought down the harshness of the colors.

  7. I like the vibrant colors. I think they might be too vibrant, as it looks more photoshopped than realistic. Would have liked to seen a graphic different than the example used in the video.\

  9. I love that you used your own artwork here. The oceans are very important to San Diego and the world and we need to keep them clean and safe. This reminds people to keep that in mind as they are enjoying the beach and even when they aren't. I love the location as well. Great work! -Va merritt

  10. I like this mural about saving the environment on Mesa's main entrance. The idea that it is based on the clean ocean project is good because people should be active in helping the environment. Great job with your work.

  13. A nice job Tim. The use of the text for "Earth" to contrast with the other would work well. The coloring use used looks like it would work well on a clear plastic or vinyl that could be mounted as well giving that translucent, ocean effect.
